This is one of my favourite works from 2010 which some of my friends will remember.

It was the birth of my ever growing love for Mermaids, inspired by Tamara Laporte in one of her wonderful classes at .http://willowing.ning.com/.

My first love when I was a child was the night sky, and the stars become my early teenage years’ passion, which stayed with me for life.

For this piece I envisioned a mermaid, also in love with the stars, who asked the moon to catch a falling star for her.

The moon caught the largest one that she saw and converted it into a Shower of Stars to send to the mermaid in a cascade of flickering light and magic, which travelled intermingled with her hair down into the water creating a path of light.
